matchmaker matchmaker, make me a match

so i went to dinner with my sister and nephew tonight.
at one point nate looked up at me and asked, "sooooo...emmy? when are you going to get married?"
ele and i looked at each across the table...trying to figure out how best to answer this.
nate proceeded in our silence to ask, "like, are you going to have a baby? ::softer, and more to himself:: i hope so...so i can have a cousin"
ele and i chuckled.

ele explained to him, "well, it's not that easy nate. she first needs to meet someone before getting to the point of marriage, and that it can't just be some random guy."

somehow this lead us into all the various traits that nate thinks i need in a mate. since it was entirely too amusing to keep to ourselves, here they are for your own entertainment!

some are quite humourous!

someone who...
  • likes to read books
  • is nice
  • is not bald
  • is born in 1982, so they are turning 28 this year
  • doesn't wet their pants
  • brushes their teeth, so they don't have bad breath when i kiss them
  • is not short, they can be 5'8" and 5 inches
  • has a good heart (we clarified that he didn't literally mean a good heart, as in won't have a heart attack)
  • makes me laugh because i'm a laughing kind of person
  • gets along with my family
  • isn't drunk, so they won't crash when we drive
  • likes me
  • knows good restaurants, like for birthdays and other get-togethers
  • is british, so they know about tea and stuff

for a 9 year old matchmaker, he's not too shabby.
glad he is looking out for my best interests :D

hitchin' party

yeah....i've been M.I.A. for quite a while...work had been rough there for a bit.
for the silence, apologises to my few bloggy followers.

there is more important news to share though.

dear friend aly, she had herself a hitchin' party this weekend here, in rural Indiana

and it was glorious!

the happy couple are complete stunners.

congratulations Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Winter!!!

crafter?

Just wanted to spread the word about a great way to use your crafty instincts (if you are so inclined) and also help out those who are otherwise without. Check out Craft Hope whenever you get a chance, and you'll be able to see what the new project is and who will benefit.

It really is such a neat concept!

prevailing

many are the plans in a man's heart,
but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.
proverbs 19:21

stressed

i love when i tell superiors that i'm stressed and overwhelmed with my workload, that they give me more work to do...makes sense, right?

counting down the days until i get to go home, and forget about work for a whole month.
i also get to thaw out a bit in the florida sun :) i can already feel it seeping through my pores :D

path

i see my path, but i don't know where it leads. not knowing where i'm going is what inspires me to travel it.

gramps' funeral was about a month ago now, but i just wanted to share the song that my family and i sang at the grave site on the day of. it was a beautifully sweet, sorrowful, and joyous moment for us. it was mixed with tears, sniffling, and smiles. we had been allowed the wonderful opportunity to have know this great, loving, sneaky, smart, God-fearing man. so we will miss him dearly, but we rest assured that he is in a far better place. a place he has been longing to go to for so long, to be home with his most precious lord and saviour.

And can it be that i should gain
an interest in the saviour's blood?
died he for me, who cause his pain?
for me, who him to death pursued?
amazing love! how can it be
that thou, my god, shouldst die for me?

'tis mystery all: the immortal dies!
who can explore his strange design?
in vain the first-born seraph tries
to sound the depths of love divine.
'tis mercy all! let earth adore,
let angel minds enquire no more.

he left his father's throne above -
so free, so infinite his grace -
emptied himself of all but love,
and bled for adam's helpless race.
'tis mercy all, immense and free;
for, o my god, it found out me!

long my imprisoned spirit lay
fast bound in sin and nature's night;
thine eye diffused a quickening ray 0
i woke, the dungeon flamed with light,
my chains fell off, my heart was free,
i rose, went forth, and followed thee.

no condemnation now i dread;
jesus, and all in him, is mine!
alive in him, my living head,
and clothed in righteousness divine,
bold i approach the eternal throne,
and claim the crown, through christ, my own.
